 How a Music Video is Made

Ever since I was a teenager in the 1980's during the MTV era, I was quite fascinated by watching music videos by my favorite artists such as Michael Jackson, and his most popular video of all time, "Thriller" and wondered how it was pulled off, and how long it actually would take to create such a masterpiece. After doing my research on this topic, I now know how a music video can be created and how it's produced. 

The purpose of a video is to be released for a promotion for an album. The video is usually released before the album.  If the video gains interest, it may become viral. Therefore, the more promotion for the video, the more the song and the band will earn  money. A video is also like a short film or movie that tells a story set to music. Therefore, the narrative  tells the story to correspond with the song.

The  process  of  making a video is to write a story and a script, then create a shooting schedule with a shooting crew, produce the video, and finally edit and put the final touches to the video. A video also would need to have a good location for filming, a camera man , and a fashion designer for designing the costumes for the cast of the video to wear along with a make-up artist to put on the make-up for the actors. The people that are needed for making a production are the Director, Producer, Location Scout, Camera man, a Fashion Designer, and a Make-up Artist.

The two videos that I had selected below were very involved and had a big production process. They both are like miniature movies set to music. Watch these videos, and see if your mind sees the same  things that I interpreted. 


She Blinded Me with Science by Thomas Dolby




Opinion: The story behind the song and video of "Blinded me with Science" by Thomas Dolby is about a young man who has fallen madly in love with a stunningly, beautiful woman. But, it appears that the woman does not feel the same way about the man, and was only manipulating him with her sexuality, and he became blinded by her anatomy. At the end of the video, the main male character comes to the conclusion that he rejects science and the scientific, and the psychiatrist gets his just desserts.


Thriller by Michael Jackson 



Opinion 2: The story behind the song and video of "Thriller" by Michael Jackson is about a teenage couple who have been dating each other for a while, and the main male character decides to give his girlfriend a promise ring. Suddenly, after he places the ring on her finger, he begins to confess a secret to her. Little does the main female character know that on any night at the stroke of midnight when there is a full moon, he changes from a young man into a werewolf , and also a bunch of zombies start to appear. The female character is terrified and thinks it is actually really happening. But the male character convinces her that it is all in her head and that it was just a nightmare.

Songs of Inspiration: Music that make me feel stronger and want to change the world The first song that I chose for my analysis is a song that when I first heard it played on the radio I had made it my own personal anthem is by artist Kelly Clarkson titled, Stronger . My Innovations and evolutions assignment

 For this assignment I chose for an instrument the saxophone. I went to two different websites which were 1. Liveabout.com and 2. Yamahamakewaves for my research on the history of when it was created, and the origin, and how this particular instrument was used. The saxophone was first invented by Adolphe Sax on June 28, 1846, in Paris, France. Sax was a musical instrument designer born in Belgium from 1814- 1894. The saxophone was always made of brass since it's first invention, but because of it's principles of sound, is classified as a wood wind instrument such as the clarinet or flute. How is it played?
